Smoked Baby Back Ribs are a flavorful BBQ favorite, slow-cooked until fall-off-the-bone tender with a smoky, caramelized crust. Perfect for cookouts or anytime you’re craving classic ribs with bold, smoky flavor.
Prep Work: Preheat the smoker to 225 degrees. Combine the listed BBQ Rub ingredients in a small bowl and stir until well combined. Take the rack of ribs out of the packaging and pat both sides dry with a paper towel. Flip it over to the back side and use the paper towel to grip and remove the membrane.
Drizzle olive oil over the rack of ribs and rub it into both sides. Generously coat both sides with BBQ rub, pressing the seasoning into the meat until it sticks and begins to form a paste consistency crust.
Place the ribs, meat-side up, uncovered, on the smoker and cook for 3 hours.
At the 3-hour mark, lay out a sheet of aluminum foil and add the butter, ½ cup of BBQ sauce, and a light sprinkle of BBQ rub. Place the ribs meat-side down and wrap them tightly in the foil, and return to the grill or oven to cook for another 2 hours.
After the 2 hours, carefully unwrap the ribs and flip them meat-side up, leaving the juices in the foil. Brush the remaining BBQ sauce over the top of the ribs and continue cooking with the foil open for 1 more hour.
Slice the ribs into individual pieces between each bone, serve, and enjoy!
