French Onion Salisbury Steak
10 mins prepServes 5
This French Onion Salisbury Steak features juicy ground beef patties simmered in a rich caramelized onion and beef gravy, then topped with melted cheese.
0 In a large skillet over low-medium heat, add the olive oil and sliced onions. Stirring them occasionally allow them to sauté until they are slightly golden brown and soft. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
1 In a large mixing bowl add the ground beef, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, egg, and panko bread crumbs. Using your hands mix together until all the ingredients are well combined. Once combined, form the meat into patties.
2 Place the patties in the skillet over medium-high heat and allow them to cook for about 4 minutes on each side. Once cooked to your preference, remove the patties from the skillet and drain off the grease.
3 Over low heat add the butter to the skillet, once melted add in the flour and whisk together until it forms a bubbly liquid like paste. Stirring the roux constantly, allow it to cook for 2-3 minutes then add in the beef broth and whisk together until no clumps are present.
4 Add in the onions and patties. Top the patties with cheese and cover while simmering on low as the gravy thickens and cheese melts. Serve & enjoy!
