Cube Steak and Gravy is a hearty Southern comfort meal featuring golden pan-fried cube steaks smothered in a rich, homemade brown gravy loaded with tender bell peppers and onions — all made in one skillet in under 40 minutes.
Spread 1/4 cup of flour onto a plate and season it with 1 teaspoon of seasoned salt. Rub a little oil over both sides of the steak. Season with 1 teaspoon of seasoned salt, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1 teaspoon of onion powder, and black pepper as desired. Dredge the steaks in the seasoned flour until well coated, then set them aside.
Pour oil into a hot skillet set to medium high heat. Place the floured steaks into the skillet and cook each side for 3–5 minutes before taking them out.
Toss in sliced onions and bell peppers and cook for 2–3 minutes. Add 3 tablespoons of flour, stir well, and cook for another 2–3 minutes to develop the roux.
Add the beef broth and beef bouillon paste, stirring until combined. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, place the steaks back into the pan, and let them simmer in the gravy for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serve and enjoy!
